Bill Gray, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away at the age of 67. Born in Chicago and raised in Dolton, IL, Bill's life was marked by a strong commitment to his family, friends, profession and his bees. He was a proud graduate of Southern Illinois University where he earned his degree in microbiology.
Bill dedicated over 40 years as an environmental consultant with Gabriel Environmental Services in Chicago, Illinois. He was an avid Chicago sports fan and outdoorsman. Bill loved fishing, gardening, hiking as well as craft breweries. His main passion was beekeeping. Bill maintained his beehives that produced an abundance of honey.
With his beloved wife of 38 years, Mary (Hardy) Gray, they enjoyed visiting national parks with their friends and family. They enjoyed spending summers between Wisconsin and Michigan, and many trips to visit their grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife Mary (Hardy) Gray; daughters Jacqueline (Andrew) Klietz, Christina (Kyle) Wayman, and Kathryn (Noah) Conley: grandchildren Farrah Klietz, Lucas Klietz, Layla Klietz and Charlotte Wayman; sisters Tammy Gray and Beverly Gray; and a large circle of beloved family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Bill on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM with services immediately following with Pastor John Richy officiating.
Bill's legacy is one of love, laughter, and curiosity. He will be remembered for his positive impact on the lives of many, leaving behind memories filled with laughter and the spirit of adventure. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite national or local park.
