Obituary

William (Bill) Charles Toczyl, 73 of Munster, Indiana passed away on Sunday June 18 th , 2023.  Bill is survived by his wife, Lynn F. Toczyl, his sister Barbara Radbel-Myers (Palmer) nephew Ross Myers, his aunt Joan Filipkowski and his great-niece Cassidy Rose Radbel, brother-in-law Robert Valencic (Sherri) as well as lots of cousins and nephews and nieces.  He is preceded in death by his parents William and Louise Toczyl and uncle John Filipkowski, his nephews Jonathan Radbel and David Radbel.

A carpenter in Local 1539 for most of his career, switching to Project Management at Paoli Woodworking, Inc. until he retired in 2017. His friends and family referred to him lovingly as either the Sheriff or the Mayor of Munster … he found new friends where ever he was, frequently inviting himself to any party he heard about … and he was always welcomed!

Bill loved his summers … the hotter the better… pool parties were a favorite … especially having family come visit … he entertained everyone. Boating was also a favorite at the cottage he shared with his parents for 39 years … spending the day idling around Lake Schafer and then going back out for a night ride to finish off the day. And of course a MGD or two!!!

Bill was an avid scuba diver. He and his wife obtained Assistant Instructor status and LOVED the sport … often helping Goose's Scuba Shack when they had large open water certification classes. Vacations were spent traveling around the world to enjoy all they had to offer on land and under water.

He loved watching March Madness with his nephew David and they would think nothing of watching it 12 hours straight.

Bill was an avid watcher of The Curse of Oak Island … yes, he was an Acorn as followers of the program are called … often watching episodes multiple times to ensure he didn't miss anything …

He leaves behind a legacy of friendship, humbleness, kind deeds and love for almost everyone he knew. He will be missed more than he ever thought by so many people.
