Waltraud (Trudy) Popp sadly passed to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the age of 91.  She is survived by her brother, Heinz Giegold and sister-in-law, Heike Giegold of Igensdorf, Germany; sister-in-law Friedlinde Giegold (late Max Giegold) of Heilbronn, Germany. She also leaves behind her sister, Elsbeth Sutton (nee Popp) of Omaha, NE (late Robert Sutton); three of her four children; Edith Popp of Mineral, VA; Richard Popp of Santa Ana, CA; Marlene (Matt) Dillon of Munster, IN; including many loving nieces and nephews here and in Germany. She was very blessed with eight wonderful grandchildren and six precious great-grandchildren with another bundle of joy due in July. She is preceded in death by her husband, Heinrich; her daughter, Elfriede Zimbrich and her parents Rosa and Edwin Giegold of Schwarzenbach/S Germany.along with two sister-in-laws and their husbands; Annemarie and Fritz Dorge and Irmgard & Don Sambrookes.

Trudy's grandchildren and great-grandchildren gravitated towards her for her playfulness, kindness and juicy raspberries in her garden. She was surrounded by nieces and nephews who made time to enjoy her company and sense of humor. She was an avid seamstress and gardener. Everyone who knew her will miss her.

Friends may visit family on Monday, February 12, 2024 at SCHROEDER-LAUER FUNERAL HOME, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL from 9:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a graveside service.  Trudy will be laid to rest adjacent to her husband at Concordia Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
