Victor (Vic) Bathgate of Lansing, Il., born March 13, 1936, passed away on July 7, 2022. He was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, son, and brother. He is survived by his first love and wife of 59 years, Sharon Bathgate: his wonderful children Victor (Lansing, Il.), Sheri (Columbus, Ohio) their spouses Carrie and Jay; forever grandchildren, Skylar (Columbus, Ohio) and Taylor (Lansing, Illinois).

Vic graduated from Thornwood High School and worked at Ford Motor Company for 30 years in Chicago Heights, Il. He loved his cars and leasing a new one every three years. One of his great joys in life. Vic served in the Army stationed in Germany for two years. He loved anything military and liked to watch parades, Veterans, military movies and documentaries and loved the American flag. He loved golfing with his buddies and his wife and son. He especially loved the hole in one he had and the little trophy his wife got him.

He loved going on vacation with his wife and family. Myrtle Beach (golfing and shows), Orange Lake and Disney World (the timeshare and fantastic family times) and of course Hocking Hills celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary with his forever love Sharon and family, Sheri, Victor, Carrie, Jay, Skylar, Taylor, and his dog Amber. All those "make a memory" moments that are in our hearts forever. Trips to Lakewood in a nice cabin, fishing, swimming, going for fudge and barbecuing. Special trips to Ash Cave, watching Skylar wade in the pond under the waterfall, carving our names in the walls of the cave. The magic of the trees and the sun shining through in all of God's Splendor. So many cherished and never to be forgotten moments. He loved watching his granddaughter Taylor (a great little actress) act in her school plays. Vic shared his wife Sharon's and daughters love of traveling to Air Supply concerts around the country.

Vic was preceded in death by his parents Elsie and Robert Bathgate and his brother James Bathgate. Vic was a proud and quiet man who never felt the need to make a big splash in life. He just wanted to live his life in a good and kind way loving his family. He loved the oldies songs and Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.

A private cremation will be held through Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, Lansing, Illinois. Memorial celebrations of his life will be held by his immediate family over time in memory of the things he liked to do and what made him happy. Vic loved the Frank Sinatra song "My Way" and is leaving this earth in the way he requested. His way.
