Tarvis (Ty) Iversen, age 93, of Lansing, died peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at home in Lansing, IL. He leaves behind his loving wife, Carole Anne Potter nee Camit. Children: Sharryl (Steve) Norris, Lynn (Ken) Wurth, Anne (John) Eberhardt, Erik (Marina) Iversen, Kristoffer (Debbie) Iversen, stepchildren, Karen (Gavin) Jadwin, Carl Potter, Robert (Michelle) Potter, eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, sister Ann Iversen, niece Dana Moeller, Anna Skovmose, nephew Kristian Skovmose. He is predeceased by his late parents Thoger and Anine nee Fink Iversen, grandson Paul Eberhardt, niece Cindy Skovmose, and baby brother Allen Iversen.

He married Carole Anne Potter nee Camit in 2012, who he met as a fellow Lansing Library volunteer. He was married to Milda nee Kuzmickas, mother of Erik and Kristoffer, in 1969 (32 years). She died in 2002. He was previously married to Barbara Hazelwood, mother of Sharryl, and Janet Simpson, mother of Lynn and Anne.

Ty's parents were from neighboring Denmark cities. Thoger Eriksen from Stenbjerg and Anine Fink from Southern Vorupor. They emigrated in 1926 from Denmark to the United States, passing through Ellis Island, New York, then settling in the Edison Park neighborhood of Chicago where Ty was born on August 19, 1929.

Prior to Ty's birth, his parents changed their last name from Eriksen to Iversen, Thoger's middle name, to prevent confusion with another Eriksen family's mail.

One of Ty's favorite recollections as a boy was catching fly balls for Rogers Hornsby (Chicago Cubs) at Grand Crossing Park in 1941 and that Hornsby taught him how to bat. He later enjoyed watching his sons play baseball and other sports.

Ty graduated from Hirsch High School, Chicago, where in his senior years he starred on their undefeated football team. He was offered a University of Illinois football scholarship but chose to work for Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was a supervisor of special events and later became a manager in sales.

He later was employed with Prudential Financial Company, retiring after 40 years, the last twelve years were emeritus service.

Ty loved animals. His hobbies were oil painting (favoring animals) and stamp collecting. He donated for resale three million canceled postage stamps to Tubfrim, an organization that helps children with disabilities in Norway.

He was a proud member of the Danish Brotherhood Lodge 35, Calumet Stamp Club, past secretary, The Friends of Lansing Library, member, voted Volunteer of the Year. He was past president, Markham Park District, past vice president, United Insurance Workers in America, past vice president, Insurance Agents of United food and Commercial Workers.

Visitation and funeral are Friday, July 28, 2023 from 10AM – 12PM at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL. Service to be held at noon. Funeral procession to Fairmont-Willow Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Willow Springs, IL. Luncheon will follow at Camelot Banquets, 8624 95th Street, Hickory Hills, IL.
