Stevens Baker, age 93, of Lansing, Illinois passed away February 5, 2024. Steve is survived by his children; Steve  (Bobbie) Baker Jr, Kelly Baker, Nicholas (Mel) Baker, and Grace (Jason) Menclewicz. Proud Grandpa/GPA/Pepa to Betzie (Brett) Kallok, Matt Baker, Michael Baker, Alex (Alexa Armon) Baker, Nicole and Emily Baker, Nicholas Baker, Jacob and Stephanie Menclewicz. Proud Great Grandpa to Alexa Baker and Lincoln Baker. Steve is preceded in death by his wife Jean, daughter Evelyn and eight siblings.

In honor of Steve's life, friends and family are invited to gather Friday, February 16, 2024 at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road Lansing, Illinois. Visitation from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM with procession to Our Lady of Knock Church, 501 163rd St, Calumet City, Illinois for 12 PM Mass of Christian Burial. Steve will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois with  Military Honors.

Steve was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois in a large family. He attended  Chicago Vocational High School. Steve served in the Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Steve married the love of his life, Jean, in August 1956.  They loved life together and enjoyed  dancing in their younger years.  Together they raised their five kids and two grandchildren in Burnham and Calumet City. He spent his career working for Ideal Heating for 38 years. Steve never watched a western he didn't like and never encountered a coffee cake he wouldn't eat. His motto was "Family is Everything" and he proved that by being there for everyone/everything. How lucky we were to have someone that makes saying goodbye so hard. www.schroederlauer.com
