Steven Allen Toth, Sr. of Lansing, Illinois transitioned to be with our Lord on Monday, July 26, 2021.  He was born on November 21, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Olga (Bilas) Toth and Stephan Toth.  After graduating from Fenger High School, Steve attended University of Illinois at Chicago before accepting a scholarship to run track at Northern Illinois University.  He received his undergraduate degree in education and began teaching history in Kaneland High School.   Steve would later go on to earn a Master's Degree in School Administration and then a certification in School Finance.  He would spend 29 years at Thornton High School in Harvey where he coached cross country and track & field; and later becoming Thornton's Activities Director and then Assistant Principal.

Steve married his wife, Marie Rose (Bracha) Toth on June 13, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois.  Soon thereafter, they settled in Lansing, Illinois where they had three children. Steve was a great believer in not only education, but community.  He spent countless hours coaching Little League Baseball for the Lansing Old Timers and served many terms on the Lansing District 171 & 215 School Boards.

Steve was passionate about books & newspapers, the White Sox, Arizona Cardinals and NIU Football, great scotch and his red 1964 Corvette.  But his passion for those things never came close to the excitement he found in his own family.   He could often be found watching his children or grandchildren play sports, dance or sing.   He spent his time vacationing on the East Coast with family and relaxing at home by the pool.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Toth; his children Beth Bugg (Edward), Steven Allen Toth Jr. (Amy) and Susan Fennelly (Brian); his nine grandchildren Erin, Savannah, Colin, Reagan, Steven III, Elizabeth, Shawn, Kendall and Drew; his brother, John Toth; his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Michael Davis.   He is proceeded in death by his mother and father, Olga Toth Bliss and Stephan Toth; and his step-father, Raymond Bliss.

A celebration of life will take place on July 31, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Schroeder Lauer Funeral Home, located at 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois 60438.
