Stanley (Stan the Man) John Sroczynski, Jr., 90 of Lansing passed away peacefully on July 17, 2023 surrounded by his sons. Stan is survived by his three sons Michael (Dorene) Sroczynski, Kerry (Michael) Sroczynski and Jason Sroczynski. Loving Gramps of Alyssa (Jeremy) Biancardi, Sarah (John) Singel, Drew (Liz) Sroczynski, Tyler (Emily) Sroczynski, Hope (Marcus) Ottenhoff, Stanley Sroczynski, Jason (Dilara) Elder, Amanti Elder and Devion Elder. Great-grandfather of Grace Dyke; Claire, John Luke, and Benjamin Singel; Eleanor and Evelyn Sroczynski; Beau Ottenhoff; and Ky'Mier Elder and Alani Carter. Stan is preceded in death by his beloved wife Theresa Sroczynski (Szelung); father Stanly Sroczynski, Sr, and his mother Phyllis Sroczynski (Kurowski); his two sisters Lorraine and Mildred and his brother Thomas.

Stan was born and raised in South Chicago. He attended Bowen High School and joined the Navy afterwards as an electronics technician. After his time in the service, he attended Northern Illinois University and achieved a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Physical Education. He continued his education at Northwestern University and obtained a Master of Science in Biology. After college, he taught and coached basketball at Bloom High School in Chicago Heights. After teaching at Bloom, he taught Biology and was the Head of the Science Department at Prairie State College for over forty years.

Stan married Terry, the love of his life, on September 6, 1958. Both Stan and Terry dedicated their entire lives and love for their three sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Stan was very involved in his sons' lives. He was a dedicated coach for all three of his sons in Hockey, Baseball and Football. He enjoyed coaching and cheering for his children and grandchildren. Not only did he have a positive impact on his children and grandchildren, but also on the lives of many other athletes through over fifty years of coaching and umpiring for youth sports.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 10:00 AM to 12 noon, with services immediately with Deacon Jim Renwick officiating. Stan will be laid to rest next to his beloved with Theresa at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Glenwood, Illinois.

Stan loved the outdoors, taking his family camping in their VW Bus, and spending time with his many friends and family. Some of Stan and Terry's many destinations included Mosinee, WI; Gulf Shores, AL; Panama City, FL; and Sunshine Key, FL. Stan was a colorful character and will be remembered and endeared for his great sense of humor. Many will miss him. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Stan's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
