Shirley Anne Rowley, age 86, formerly of Lansing, Illinois, Sun City West, Arizona and most recently Hartsfield Village in Munster, Indiana passed away Friday, September 29, 2023. Shirley was born September 17, 1937 as the youngest daughter of George and Margaret Hoyle. Shirley grew up in Chicago with her three older brothers Edward (Ilse), Dick (Betty), and John (Vicki). She maintained grade school friendships throughout her life and the group crossed the country many times to spend time together.

Growing up, Shirley loved to go horse back riding. She was in choir from grade school through college and loved the theater, dancing and the arts. Shirley participated and starred in many community theater performances throughout her younger days. She carried this love of dancing into retirement, joining a dance troupe in Sun City West.

Shirley spent 47 years happily married to her late husband John. They were active members at Lansing Knights of Columbus and Lansing Country Club, where many of their happiest memories were made socializing with friends and family. They traveled the country playing at many golf courses along the way and in 1996 retired to Sun City West where they continued sharing their passion for golf and socializing with many new friends. John and Shirley both shared an amazing ability to be the life of the party.

Shirley is survived by her devoted daughter, Donna (Don) Hinton, sons John (Beth) Rowley and James Rowley. She was a loving grandmother to Lauren (Josh) Doran, Billy (Jenna) Hinton, Abbey Rowley and great-grandmother to Olivia and Elliot Doran. She was an aunt to many and enjoyed any time she got to spend with family.

After returning from Arizona in 2021, Shirley spent two happy years at Hartsfield Village Independent Living. As she had every stop along the way, she made many friends while playing cards, Wii Bowling and crafting.

The memorial visitation for friends and family of Shirley will be held on Wednesday, October 4th, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a service to follow starting at 7pm at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home located at 3227 Ridge Road in Lansing, IL.
