Sharon A. Rossman, age 77 of South Holland, IL, died on March 9, 2021. She was born January 25, 1944. Sharon lived most of her life in the Chicago area, was Catholic and delighted in her Irish heritage.

Sharon spread so much love. She never married or had children, but she treated three generations of nieces and nephews—including those who married into the family—as if we were her children. Every year, without fail, she called them to sing "Happy Birthday."

Straight out of high school, Sharon joined the U.S. Women's Army Corps, and was stationed in Alabama and Kansas. After honorably serving her country, Sharon had a career in corrosion testing on metal at Allied Tubing and she became an avid toy collector. In retirement, Sharon learned to crochet and her production was prolific. Each stitch was wrapping love around her crochet hook and pulling it through to make afghans, hats, scarves and bags for family and friends.

Sharon and her longtime neighbors shared strong bonds, celebrating holidays and the everyday and looking out for each other in sickness and harsh winters. After all the love she shared with people, Sharon had just as much to give to animals, especially the dogs and cats she cherished as pets.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara (Merle) Karberg, of Chiefland, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Larry and Tom (Diane) Rossman and her parents, James and Anne Rossman.

A committal service for Sharon will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 801 Michigan City Rd, Calumet City.
