Sharon L. James 81, of Lansing, Illinois went home to her heavenly Father, on March 14, 2024. She was born in 1942, in Chicago Heights, Illinois to her parents Conrad Gleim and Dorothy (nee Sass), and was raised in Lansing, Illinois with her younger brothers James Gleim (Lily) and Richard Gleim (Cindy); all who preceded her in death.

Sharon was a T.F. South graduate, and worked at Acme Steel in Riverdale, Illinois for 32 years as a secretary. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lansing, Illinois, and would sometimes attend St. Paul Lutheran in Munster, Indiana. She was a bowler and a Bunco player in her younger days, and a collector of elephants, crystal and cardinals. She enjoyed playing UNO, and sitting at the table doing crossword puzzes in her later years; and, she always had room for one more pretty ring.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel (Lynn) and Jerrald James; two grandchildren, Jena (Joe) Rogers and Craig (Erica) James; three great granchildren: Calvin, Donovan, and Christian; nephew, Jason Gleim, and his son Erik; two nieces: Michelle (Tim) Zoeteman and Susan (Rob) Munsie, and some helpful friends to her and Jerry: Patricia, Kim, Vicky, and Sandy.

Some of the best times she ever had were traveling out West to Wyoming with her trucker boyfriend, and making mischief with cousins Rita and Joanne. Many of her days were spent at the commander Restaurant, where she and Jerry would enjoy a good meal. She loved to show off the beautiful pictures taken of her great grandchildren, and often talked about how smart they were and how much Danny loved being a Grandpa. She loved her brothers, and liked that her brother Rich was the only one that called her "Share".

She was a "number one woman". One who liked to keep life simple. One who longed for her family to be together. One who was kind, but sometimes had a stubbron side. One who took the time to mail a card on those important to remember days. One who will be remembered. Sharon faced some challenging situations in her life and relationships, but she chose to believe Jesus would take her through it all: and , He did. She is now with the Lord and Savior, and reunited with her family that passed before her. It gives us peace to know she is in His loving arms. She was loved by many, and still is, and will truly be missed. Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and care of Sharon. Sharon will be laid to rest on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Oak Glen Lutheran Cemetery, with Pastor John Richy officiating.
