Sam Caruso, age 95, of Homer Glen, IL, formerly of Calumet City, IL, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 8, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Sam is survived by his loving children: Larry (Joanne) Caruso, Jerome (Jan) Caruso and Denise (Anthony) Duda. Loving grandfather of Laura (Chris) Gordon, Michael (Brigitte) Caruso, Monique Caruso, Jerry Caruso, Nicholas Duda, and Catherine Duda and great grandfather of Sarah Gordon, Tyler Gordon, Luca Caruso, and Nico Caruso. Also survived is long time friend Rose LaVoy. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to nephews Mark and Bruce for helping Sam with whatever he needed. Sam was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen (nee Wisinski), parents Lawrence and Catherine (nee Sciackitano) Caruso, and brothers Andy (Violet) Caruso and Leroy (late Christine) Caruso.
Friends may visit with Sam's family, Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services for Sam will be held Friday, September 16, 2022 with closing prayers beginning at 9:30 AM at the funeral home then proceeding to (Jesus Shepherd of Souls) St. Andrew The Apostle Church, 768 Lincoln Ave, Calumet City, Illinois for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Sam will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois.
Sam was a proud United States Navy Veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed playing golf and he never met a stranger. His welcoming smile and contagious laugh always made you feel welcome. He was loved by many and he will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Sam's name to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care, Joliet, Illinois.
