Rosalie Okruch, age 100 of Calumet City, IL, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025. She was born in Ukraine to parents Michael and Anna Burdiak on December 29, 1924. Rosalie is survived by her two daughters: Alexandra (spouse the late Leo Keryczynskyj) Okruch and Sonia (Bernard) De Koning; four grandchildren: Tatiana (spouse Nikolai Sitz) De Koning, Ivanka De Koning, Alexander De Koning, and Christina Keryczynskyj; and two great grandchildren: Skyla Rose Sitz and Cameron Joseph Sitz.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Stefan Okruch; brothers: Tony Burdiak and Joseph Burdiak; and many relatives in Ukraine.

Friends are invited to visit with Rosalie's family on Saturday, November 22 from 9:00 – 9:30 AM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. The funeral service will begin at 9:30 AM in the funeral home chapel. Rosalie will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL.

Her granddaughter, Tania De Koning wrote, "Last night we learned that my sweet Babcia, Rosalie Okruch, passed away in her sleep. She was 100 years old. She was one of the strongest women I know, having endured the hardships of World War II, such as battling awful diseases that are now eradicated, and being taken away from her family in the Ukraine at the age of 16 to work as a servant. And later in life she loved nothing more that to feed everyone that she knew delicious Ukrainian food. Rest in peace, Babcia."
