Ronald Herman Eicke, age 86, of Lansing, Illinois, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, November 10, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruthann Eicke. Loving father of Cheryl (Jim) Malachowski, Janice Jones, Michelle (Greg) Deja, and Ronald (Karla) Eicke Jr. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Justin, Joseph, Kyle, Jamie, Ronald III, Joshua, and Elizabeth, and proud great-grandfather of Tenley, Jackson, Tanner, Janie, Knox, Cruz, Gwen, and Riley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lillie Eicke, and his beloved wife Ruthann.
Ronald served with the Lansing Police Department as a Captain as part of the Special Police Officer Program, proudly dedicating his time to community safety and service. He retired from Inland Steel, where he worked as a Mason Foreman, leading with integrity, craftsmanship, and dedication. An avid hunter and fisherman, Ronald spent many cherished years enjoying his cabin in the Manistee National Forest in Michigan.
Funeral services for Ronald will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 11:00 AM, at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL, with Pastor John Richy officiating. He will be laid to rest in Concordia Cemetery in Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to visit with Ronald's family on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Ronald's name to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lansing, Illinois.
Ronald was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, spending peaceful days at his cabin in Michigan's Manistee National Forest. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
