Rodney Del Heldt, age 55 of Dyer, Indiana, formerly of Lansing, Illinois passed away Monday, October 7, 2019. He is survived by his wife Jodi Lynn Heldt (nee Teach), children Jacklyn Renee (Richard Michael) Smith, and Rachel Janine Heldt. Also surviving is mother Rosemary Heldt, Therese Heldt, Patty (Jim) Teach, Sharon (Dean) Peters, Donna (Bobby) Svencner, Brenda (Ray) Hill and many nieces and nephews. Rodney was preceded in death by his father Delmar Heldt and brother Joseph Heldt.

Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. Funeral services for Rodney will begin at 5:00 PM. Interment private.

Rodney was an employee of Republic Services, and Union Steward with 25 years of service. Rodney was a member of the Hammond Mohawks and was a volunteer fireman for the Burnham fire Department for eight years. He loved a good cold beer (Miller Lite), enjoyed dinner with family; he loved the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, NASCAR, his dog Sophie, his grand dog Toewser. He enjoyed fishing trips with the guys, warm destinations, his slippers, a good fireplace, bowling on Thanksgiving and making breakfast on Christmas mornings. He was loved by many and he will be truly missed.
