Robert "Bob" Biegel, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away at the age of 81. Born and raised in Chicago, Bob's life was marked by his commitment to his family, friends, his career as a mechanical engineer and his search for the perfect mai tai in Hawaii.
Bob began his career with the IC railroad, then moved onto Thrall car where he spent the majority of his career working on freight cars as a mechanical engineer. He was a Chicago sports fan, of course the Cubs and Bears. He loved tinkering on his computer, searching the Internet for crazy things, taking trips to Disney with his family, as well as traveling Hawaii and exploring.
With his beloved wife a 55 years, Diane (Sroczynski) Biegel, they enjoyed spending time with kids and grandkids, as well as the many family gatherings each year. Some of their favorite memories are seeing Pearl Harbor, watching the sunrise on top of a volcano, listening to Hawaiian music and enjoying a tropical drink at the pool. Going to Disney and seeing who could get the most steps while enjoying Mickey.
Bob is survived by wife Diane (Sroczynski) Biegel; daughters Lisa (Tom), Becky, sons Rob (Laura) and Jason (Emilee); grandchildren Michael, Emma, Kaitlyn, Annika, Hunter, Trent, and Owen; siblings, late Raymond (late Barbara), late Joan (late Ron), late Arthur (late Lupe), Donald (Martha), Francis (Keith), Alice (late Tom), Bernadette (Ray), late Jim (Marian), and Joe (late Ethel); and loving late parents Raymond and Harriet (nee Tomaszewski) Biegel. and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois on Sunday, June 30, 2024 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Directly at (Jesus Shepherd Of Souls), Our lady Of Knock, 501 163rd Street, Calumet city, Illinois on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Cremation to follow.
Bob's legacy is one of love, laughter, and curiosity. He will also be remembered for story telling, genealogy and wood working craft. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Robert's name to a charity of your choice.
