Richard D. Potter, Jr., age 52, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at his residence, in Schererville, Indiana. He was born on May 19, 1968 in Hammond Indiana, and raised in Cedar Lake, Indiana. He is survived by two sons, Jacob and Brandon Potter, and sister, Annie (Sean) Lally. He is also survived by the love of his life, Kristen Newberry, her son Oley Newberry and their three fur babies, Furgie, Cash and Freddie. Also surviving him is former wife and longtime friend, Jenny Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard D. Potter, Sr. and Darlene Potter. Funeral services for Richard will be held Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 7:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois with Pastor John Holyer officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends are invited to visiit with the family from 2:00 pm until time of service.

Rich went to Crown Point High School in Crown Point, Indiana. He was currently employed at Daifuku in Hobart, Indiana. Rich enjoyed painting and drawing. He also would pick up his guitar whenever he could to play a tune. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to go camping and hiking. He would hunt for beach glass on the shores of Lake Michigan or look for geocaches. He enjoyed listening to music. Rich was a master at all Rubix cubes and puzzles. He loved spending time with family and friends. Rich was a happy guy, always smiling and was kind to everyone. He will be truly missed by family, friends and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
