Obituary

Richard "Rich" Marynowski, aged 77, of Calumet City, Illinois, died peacefully on Monday, October 17 th , 2022. Rich is survived by his devoted wife, Linda (Colantuono) Marynowski, as well as beloved children, Natalie (John) Phillips and Julie (Chad) Dickinson. Rich was also a proud 'papa' to grandchildren Henry, Annie, Elliott, and George. His legacy is that of a loving and devoted parent and grandparent. He is also remembered as a pinocle card playing comrade to his brother-in-law, William Brickman, and fun-loving uncle to David and Mark Brickman, Karin (Michael) Steadman, and Frankie Marynowski, as well as a great-uncle to several, younger nieces (Emma, Madison) and nephews (Ryan, Drew, Luke). Richard is preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank and Mary Marynowski, sisters-in-law, Lucille Brickman and Carol Marynowski, brother, Frank Marynowski, and look-alike nephew, Keith Marynowski. While growing up in the Chicago neighborhood of South Deering, Rich identified as a 'park rat', who participated in many recreational sports in which he considered himself the most expert player. He served for one tour in the Vietnam War through the United States Army. In life, Rich worked for over 40 years as a tow motor driver for the Ford Motor Company in Hegewisch, Illinois, before retiring in 2007. When not working, which was seldom, Rich could be found in his garden growing a surplus of vegetables, competing on the game show Jeopardy from the comfort of his living room couch, acting as a barbeque pit master for large crowds on the Fourth of July, or rooting for his beloved baseball team, the Chicago Cubs.

In honor of Rich's life, friends and family will gather on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. for a visitation at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, located at 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois. A funeral service will also be held at Schroder-Lauer Funeral Home on Monday, October 24, 2022, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Alzheimer's Association, www.act.alz.org., or Advocate Hospice, www.advocategiving.com., would be greatly appreciated. In order to donate to Advocate Hospice, the organization that provided Rich and his family so much support in his final weeks, mourners are asked to select Advocate at Home under the hospital or site tab, as well as choose Advocate Hospice, when asked to select a program or fund.
