Richard Dobda, age 69 of Dyer, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, passed away on April 9, 2025. He is survived by his siblings: Edward Dobda, Jr (Butch) of Lansing, IL, Janet Viers (nee Dobda), formerly Moffat of Schererville, IN., Leonard Dobda of Homewood,IL and one nephew. Richard was preceded in death by his parents: Edward Dobda, Sr. and Lola Dobda (nee Fisk); paternal grandmother Mary Dobda, maternal grandparents: Clarence and Susie (nee Wright) Fisk, and many aunts and uncles.

Richard graduated from T.F. South High School in Lansing, IL. After graduating high school, he attended DeVry Institute of Technology an Purdue University Northwest, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Richard was retired from Arcelor Mittal Steel/LTV Steel, where he worked as an electrical Maintenance Technician for 30+ years. He was a member of USW Local 1011.

For many years, Richard held an Advanced Amateur (Ham) Radio License and enjoyed connecting with other licensed operators from all over the world. In retirement, Richard enjoyed woodworking and chasing after his cat, Zunie.

Friends are invited to visit with Richard's family on Saturday, July 26 from 10:00 AM to11:30 AM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel beginning at 11:30 AM. Richard will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery in Glenwood, IL.
