Msgt James Rogers Black, age 72 of Lansing, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022. He is survived by his wife: Vivien (nee Papas); eldest brother: John Black, brother Amos (Faye) Black, and sister: Jackie Miller. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and a host of great nieces and nephews. James Rogers was preceded in death by his parents: Willie James and Julia (nee Sutton) Black; younger sister: Christine Davenport, and younger brother: David Black.

Friends are invited to visit with James's family on Friday, June 10 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. There will be a short prayer service at 4:00 PM led by Fr. Mark Kalema from St. Ann Church. Funeral services for James Rogers will be held on Saturday, June 11, beginning with closing prayers at 9:30 AM at the funeral home, and proceeding to St. Ann Catholic Church, 3010 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Following Mass, military honors will be held for James Rogers in the foyer of the church.

James Rogers honorably service our country in the United States Air Force where he worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician. He retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service.
