Lansing
Mildred R. (Millie) Ogborn, age 101, a longtime resident of Lansing, IL passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026. She is survived by 4 sons: Jack (Donna) Allord, Jim (Gail) Ogborn, George Ogborn and Jerry (partner Denise) Ogborn; 14 grandchildren: Julie (Jerry) Jolly, Doug (Rachel) Allord, Janea (Andy) Weisensel, Jenny (Andy) Holtz, Melissa Ogborn, Christopher (friend Brooke) Ogborn, Tiffany (Billy) Thomas, Brock (Alyssa) Ogborn, Steve (Rachael) Evans, Jason Evans, George T. Ogborn, Gretchen (Ron) Madsen, Laura (Chris) DeMondo and Allison Ogborn; 25 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years George C. Ogborn; daughter, Sheila (late Wally Evans); parents August and Esther Olsen; brothers: August Jr., Floyd, Ralph, and Donald Olsen, and Jack Broomhead; sisters: Elaine Humbert and Laverne Brown. Milly was a long-standing member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Lansing where all her children attended church and grade school.
Millie would tell people often that she was very proud of the fact that she was born, went to school, worked, got married, bought a home, raised her children, lived, and would ultimately pass on and be buried within a mile of where she was born in Lansing. Milly loved baseball, playing the game herself as part of the Oak Glen/Lansing Ladies Baseball Team in the 1940's. But moreover, she was a die-hard fan of her beloved Chicago Cubs, knowing all the players and their stats and never missed a game. She was an avid league bowler and always enjoyed playing or watching a good round of golf.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2505 Indiana Ave., Lansing, IL 60438 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Ryan Reese officiating. Burial at Oak Glen Lutheran Cemetery. Funeral services handled by Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Lansing, IL.
