Michael R.
Schrum
Jul 27, 1962 — Jan 2, 2020
Lansing
Michael Schrum, age 57 of Lansing, Illinois passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020. He is survived by his loving sons; Tyler, Thomas, and Trevor Schrum. Michael is also survived by his loving sister Susan (Alan) Buffano, his aunt Barbara and step-sister Kimberly, fellow neighbors and local surrounding communities. Michael was preceded in death by his loving parents Robert and JoAnn (Rosenbaum) Schrum and his loving daughter Trisha Schrum. Michael was always the life of the party, every time he entered the room his spirit, energy, laughter and big smile soon followed. He was very social, and everybody enjoyed his company. He always had stories that filled your soul.
He was proudly known as "Car Wash Mike" where he worked at Munster Car Wash for many years. He took great pride in his job and every customer that came in contact with Mike knew they were taken care of, and their car was going to be done right. His reputation spread throughout the surrounding communities. Mike was never a stranger to anyone. Mike volunteered his time as a fireman in Glenwood, IL., he also was a semi-professional photographer for many years. He enjoyed his telescope and taught himself all the constellations in the night sky. He enjoyed gymnastics in high school, but didn't make it to the Olympics (lol). Mike was before his time, he took Home Economics in high school, so when he got older, he would never go hungry. To this day Mike loved to cook. Mike touched many lives. Maybe you shared a beer or two, a laugh, a hug and maybe a dance or two which he loved to do. He was adventurous, outgoing, but most importantly he was a great father. Only good times were accepted-which will live on and be reflected through his three amazing sons. Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home was entrusted with his care.
