It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael E. Higgins, age 58, of Munster, Indiana. Michael passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 surrounded by his family. Michael was born on July 11, 1965 in Gary, Indiana. He is survived by his parents, Jill (Chuck) Lemon, and Michael (Marie) Higgins. Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Troy (Shari) Lemon, Trish Giese, Terry (Nan) Higgins, and Sherry (Brian) Wooldridge. He will also be deeply missed by his nieces and nephew; Rachel and Hannah Giese, Mick and Maison Wooldridge, and his beloved dog, Duke. He is preceded in death by his brother, Cory D. Lemon, and his brother-in-law, Mike Giese.

Michael was a graduate of Portage High School, class of 1983. After high school, Michael attended Indiana State University to pursue a degree in business. Afterwards, Michael proudly served his country as a decorated Sergeant in the United States Army. During his years of service, he was deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. After serving our country, Michael became the successful owner of Higgins Construction. During his 19+ years in the business, Michael touched many lives with his infectious smile, and his kind, generous spirit. He had a magnetic personality and lit up a room without even trying. His loving memory will forever remain a monument in our hearts.

Per Michael's wishes, no public service will be held. We appreciate your understanding in respecting his wishes.
