Mary Ann Lampa, nee Plys, age 90 of Calumet City, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at home. She is survived by her loving daughter Nancy (fiance' Richard Sneed) Tinsley, grandsons Nicholas (Faith) Tinsley, George Lampa, Richard Sneed, Jr., great grandson Julius Tinsley, along with many nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Mary Plys, husband Stanley Lampa, and son Thomas Lampa.

Mary Ann was born on April 11, 1935 and grew up in Hegewisch, IL. She graduated from Bowen High School and received a Bachelors in Education from the University of Illinois – Champaign on full scholarship from Ford Motor Company where her father worked for many years. She was also the only woman from her high school class that attended college. She started her teaching career at Calumet High School, with the majority of her career spent at George Washington High School as a beloved Latin teacher. She loved to spend time on Keeler Lake at her vacation home in Michigan. She loved her family and cherished her friends in a way no one else could ever compare. The loss of Mary Ann will be felt for years to come and she will be missed immensely.

Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois. Funeral services for Mary Ann will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, beginning with 9:30 AM closing prayers at the funeral home, then proceeding to Our Lady of Knock, 501 163rd Street, Calumet City, Illinois for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christina Burial. Mary Ann will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois.
