Martin F Baldeshwiler, Jr, age 93, of Lansing, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, after a short illness. Martin is survived by his children, Michael, Donna (Gary), David, and Anne (Chris), sister Rose, many nieces and nephews, five grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lois, sons William and Robert, parents Martin and Anne, brothers Robert and Donald, and sister Dorothy.
Martin was born in Jim Falls, Wisconsin, and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1948. Shortly after he joined the Army, serving part of his time in Alaska. He and Lois were married in 1953 and moved south, settling in Lansing where they lived for 48 years. Martin had different jobs but spent most of his career working for ABF (Arkansas Best Freight) where he liked to play jokes on his co-workers and had may stories to tell of his time on the road. Martin enjoyed travel and camping, especially when spending time with his family was included. He also enjoyed reading western themed novels and watching old movies. He also enjoyed spending time with his children's cats and dogs, and feeding the squirrels in his back yard. Martin leaves us with many memories of love, comfort, generosity and laughter to keep in our hearts until the time when we see him again.
Martin has been entrusted to the care of Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois, where services to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022.
