Mario Laino age 92, of Lansing Illinois, formerly of Cervicato Cosenza, Italy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23,2025.

Survivors are three children: Linda (Greg) Bialata of Munster, IN, Marc (Colleen) Laino of Naples, FL and Chicago, IL, Paul (Tatiana) Laino, Arlington, VA. Cherished grandfather of: Gabrielle (Coley) Knust, Lauren (Nick) Hedegore, Jacqueline (Conor) Barker, Madeline (Joe) Tomasik, Isabella Laino, Olivia Laino, Daniella Laino. Great-grandfather to seven children.

Mario was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Elsa Giovani, parents Vincenzo and Rosa Laino, sister Maria Formoso, and brothers Joseph and Frank. Mario came to this country in 1953 for the American dream. He cherished this country for all the opportunity it brought him. Mario was a bricklayer who went on to start his own successful business.

Mario was a wonderful husband, father, and Nonno. He lived a full life with kindness and good instincts. Together with his wife Elsa, they would raise their three children with a steady stream of Italian tradition, pride in heritage, and a good sense of principle.

Friends may visit with Mario's family on Saturday, November 29 from 9:00 -10:00 AM at Our Lady of Knock Catholic Church, 501 163rd St., Calumet City, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM. Mario will be entombed in Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Mario's name to Hospice of the Calumet Area, 600 Superior Ave., Munster, IN 46321.
