Lyle A. Kooy "Butch" born December 25, 1940 in Lansing, Illinois went home to his Lord and Savior on August 31, 2024. Butch was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marilyn Kooy (nee Vierk). He is survived by his daughters Kristine (Robb) Wilkens, Karen (Alfred) Phillips and Kathy (Ryan) Shone. Proud grandfather to Ryan (Kaitlin Mettache) Wilkens, Megan (Maria) Wilkens, Erin Wilkens, Cody Phillips, Madeline Shone, Emma Phillips, Brady Shone and Holden Shone, and great-granddaughters Hazel and Violet as well as many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with a funeral service to follow with Pastor John Richy officiating. Butch will be laid to rest at Oakridge Cemetery, Lansing, Illinois.

Butch was an active member of the Village of Lansing most of his lifetime. He was part of the first graduating class of T.F. South High School in1959, graduated from Thornton Junior College and attended Northwestern and DePaul Universities. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965 stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas, joined the Lansing Jaycees in 1967, was Trustee for the Village of Lansing from 1973-1977, and served as Treasurer for the Village from 1985 to 2006 when he retired. He went on to become an active member of the Lansing Country Club and served as treasurer there for many years.

Butch loved playing cards and watching sports, especially all Chicago sports teams… except the Cubs! He was loved by many and will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorials be donated to St. John's Lutheran Church in Lansing, Illinois or Hospice of the Calumet Area in Munster, Indiana. www.schroederlauer.com
