Leon Kropiewnicki, a cherished husband, brother, stepfather, grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 75 on February 9, 2024, after a valiant struggle with kidney, heart, and lung failures, compounded by severe anemia. His departure occurred peacefully at Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana, leaving a legacy of love, resilience, and compassion. Born and raised in Hegewisch, Chicago, Illinois, Leon's life was marked by a strong commitment to education, community, and his profession. He was a proud graduate of St. Florian Catholic School in Hegewisch and Loyola University Chicago, where he earned his degree in Pharmacy.

Leon's love for sports knew no bounds, with the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks holding special places in his heart. An avid fisherman, he participated in fishing tournaments across Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Canada and spent countless weekends at Wolf Lake, indulging in his passion for fishing.

With his beloved wife of 27 years, Angelique (Elvie) Kropiewnicki, Leon embarked on numerous international travel adventures, exploring destinations such as Italy, Canada, Hong Kong, and Thailand. Their explorations also took them to 35 states within the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii, and on cruises in the Caribbean and Puerto Rico. These journeys enriched their lives and strengthened their bond as partners in adventure.
