Kristen (Tenna) Ellen Newberry, age 49 of Schererville, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. She is survived by her son: Oley Newberry; father: Ronald Howes; brothers: Kenneth (Jennifer) Newberry, Daniel (Kim Lamparski) Newberry, Jimmy Howes, Dan (Eva) Howes; loving nieces and nephews Cara Howes, Kayla (Nate) Petrie, Shelby Newberry, Kori Newberry, Ilana Newberry, Dakota Newberry, Jake Howes, Cole Howes, and Charlie Jane Sutkowski. Also surviving are her cousins: Lisa (Ted) Massey, Donna (Mark) Even; best friend: Ronna Reznik; loving dog Cash, and cats Freddie and Furgie. Kristen was preceded in death by the love of her life, Richard Dale Potter; mother Elaine Howes, and father: Herbert Newberry Jr.

Kristen worked for Federal Signal in University Park, IL for over 25 years. She loved doing activities such as fishing, boating, camping, hiking, geocaching, poker games with friends and family, and playing bingo. She enjoyed going on family vacations every summer to Hayward, Wisconsin as well as her annual spring break vacation with her son Oley. Spending time with family and friends is what Kristen enjoyed the most.

Friends and family are invited to visit with Kristen's family on Monday, February 5 from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 6 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8601 Harrison Ave., Munster with Pastor Peter Speckhard and Pastor Adrian Krebs officiating. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 9:30 AM – 10:00 AM at the church. Kristen will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 S. Cline., Crown Point IN 46307.
