Karen S. Dowmond (nee Hansen), age 70 of Schererville, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025. She is survived by her two daughters: Lisa (Michael) Dempsey and Michelle (Nicholas Mascaro) Brei; five grandchildren: Kadence, Anna, Emma, Mackenzie, and Ryan; and three siblings: Margie, Rob, and Gren. Karen was predeceased by her infant son, Michael Brei; sister Doris, nephew Josh, parents: Robert and Margery (nee Bingham) Hansen, and mother-in-law, Dollie.

Friends are invited to visit with Karen's family on Wednesday, October 15 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL.

Karen loved crafting and made many afghans for family and friends. She enjoyed watching crime shows and reading. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
