Josephine (Jo) Hathhorn, age 101, a longtime resident of Lansing, IL, passed away on June 16, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Thomas (Tom) Hathhorn, Sr., and her daughter, Sharon Hathhorn.  Jo is survived by her sons, Tom (Barb) Hathhorn, Jr., Tim (Nancy) Hathhorn, and her daughter, Sheila (Dave) Stephenson. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren Brian, Stephanie DeLaRes, Gregg, Vince (Amanda Baltikas), Eric (Keri), Kaitlyn (Adam) Ebert, Dan Stephenson, and Eric Stephenson. She was also a  great-grandmother to Brody, Gabriella, Madeline, Benjamin, Ash, Violet, and Charles.  She is survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Louise (Polucha) Wloch and her siblings Annie (Joe) Wanko, Frankie (Doris) Wloch, Mary Wloch, Helen (Wally) Bulczak, Joe (Mable) Wloch, Tony Wloch, and Betty Jean (Ralph) Bramer.

Jo was passionate about dress designing.  Back in the 1940's she studied dress design at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.  She designed many of her own dresses including her own wedding dress.  She also loved baking and was known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies, nut cups, and apple slices.  Jo had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit even up to the end of her life.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 3:00pm - 7:00pm  Funeral services for Jo will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 10:00am at Christ Our Savior Church, 880 E. 154th St., South Holland, IL.  Jo will be laid to rest at Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, IL.In lieu of flowers donations to Albertine Home or Calumet Hospice would be appreciated.
