Joan Koler (nee Fischl), age 72, of Lansing, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away Friday November 4, 2022. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert A. Koler and parents Otto and Mary Fischl. Joan is survived by her son Frank Koler (Lisa, Jacen, and Hunter Brown), daughter Monica Koler (Ryan and Andy Cannon) and several siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was remembered by many as a faithful attendant of Lansing's St. Ann's Church and had a deep love of her rottweilers Brandy and Jade whom she shared many memories with over the years. Her pastimes included crossword puzzles, outings with friends, and engaging conversations over apple fritters and coffee. Following her years of service as a homemaker, she went back to work as a clerk for the United States Post Office where she eventually retired. Her families Christmas festivities that she hosted and the smells of her numerous varieties of Christmas cookies will be missed.

Friends may visit with Joan's family on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 9:00 to 12 Noon with services immediately following, Deacon Jim Renwick will be officiating the celebration of life. Joan will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery Calumet City, Illinois. In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to K9s For Warriors - Service Dogs for Disabled Veterans Or Vietnam Veterans of America (vva.org).
