Jean L. Karl (nee Olson), age 96 of Lansing, IL, went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. She is survived by her four children: Jeffrey Karl, Janet Karl, James (Jennifer) Karl, and Jennifer (Robert) Avenatti; grandchildren: Kirby (Michael) Cheesman, Katherine Karl, Brianna Karl, Joseph Karl, Tyler Avenatti, Elizabeth Karl, Ryan Avenatti, and Megan Karl; and great grandchildren: Wyatt Cheesman, Jemma Cheesman, Corrin Cheesman, and Ila Maldonado.

Jean was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jane, and husband of 52 years: Jack Karl.

Friends are invited to visit with Jean's family on Friday, December 19 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20 at 10:00 AM directly at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 19058 Burnham Ave., Lansing, IL. Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jack, in Oak Glen Lutheran Cemetery in Lansing. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Jean's name to the charity of your choice.

Jean had a Bachelor's Degree in Education and began her teaching career at T.F. North High School in Calumet City. She then transferred to T.F. South High School in Lansing where she worked for many years as a substitute teacher while raising her family.

Jean was an avid reader. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
