Jean A. Jachna (nee Umgelder) age 78, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020. The daughter of the late Vernon and Florence Umgelder, she was born and raised in Blue Island, IL. Shortly after marriage, she moved to Dolton, IL where she raised her family, and most recently she lived in Hobart, IN. Jean is survived by her three children: Bonnie (Mike) Troncozo, Roger (Jeanne) Jachna, and Keith Jachna. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren: Angela (Jack), Michael (Christa), Harley (Shannan), Stephanie, Elisha, and Roger III; loving great grandchildren: Aubree, McKenzie, Blake, Shelby, Korie, Colten, Logan, Walker, Ella-Mae, and one great grandchild to join the family soon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The eldest of 14 siblings, Jean is survived by 11: Vernon (late Wanda), John (late Jeannette), Bill (Marilyn), Darlene (Jimmy), Sharon (Ron), Chuck (Connie), Tom (Charlene), David (Pam), Clarice (Doug), Donald (Debbie), and Beverly (late Wally). Two siblings preceded her in death: Richard (late Mary Ellen) and Roger (Mary) Umgelder.

Friends may visit with Jean's family on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL, with the funeral service at 7:30 PM. Due to covid 19, we ask that you limit your visit with the family. Jean will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Garden South in Oak Lawn on Friday in a private family service.

Jean enjoyed sewing, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and their activities. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed life and made people feel loved and welcomed. She was loved by many and she will be truly missed.
