Janet Bernard, age 93 of Lansing, formerly of Matteson, IL, passed away surrounded by family at Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 4, 2024. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Joan Renee Yalley, and Kathryn (Scott Clark); three grandchildren: Nastassia Yalley, Ashley Bernard-Clark, and Taylor Bernard-Clark; and her sister Nancy Adam. Mrs. Bernard was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Clarence; her parents, Paul and Florence (Dettmering) Adam; her brothers, Richard and James (Nancy) and her son, Jeffrey.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bernard will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2505 Indiana Ave., Lansing, IL. Interment will follow at Oak Glen Lutheran Cemetery in Lansing. Friends are invited to visit with the Bernard family on Thursday from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Bernard's name to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Lansing.
Mrs. Bernard received a degree from the School of the Art Institute and was a homemaker and artist who frequented many local area art and craft shows. She enjoyed her dogs, traveling, camping and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she often volunteered and supported her late husband in his years of service as an Elder and Chief Elder for the church. She was always gracious and generous with everyone she met. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, and she will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Schroeder-Lauer funeral Home has been entrusted with the care and arrangements of Mrs. Bernard.
