James (Jim) Leon Bray, age 85, of Valrico, Florida, formerly of Lynwood, Illinois, passed away on March 24, 2025. Jim was born on June 12, 1939 in Rossville, Illinois to Everett and Flossie (nee Borders) Bray. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959. Jim was married for 43 years to the love of his life, Karen (Chris) Bray, and together they lovingly raised their one daughter, Stacy.

Jim's interests over his many years included golfing, fishing, building and fixing things. He was an avid CUBS fan and enjoyed watching movies and FOX news. He cherished spending time with his family and church. Jim was an active member of East Hazel Crest Bible Church, where he served in various capacities over the years. Family was most important to Jim, so at age 81 he picked up and moved to Florida to be with his daughter and her family. In Florida, he treasured the close time spent with his family and watching his grandchildren grow. Jim also embraced his new church family at Victory Baptist Church.

Jim is survived by his daughter Stacy (Kelly) Fox and two grandchildren, Alex and Amber Fox. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Chris, his big brother Bob Bray and his dear sister Beverly Sanders.

Visitation for Jim will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. The funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at Schroeder-Lauer. Jim will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. Jim was loved by many and he will be truly missed.
