James F.
Kolosh
Apr 6, 1933 — Oct 9, 2024
Lansing
James "Jim" Kolosh, age 91 of Lansing, IL, Devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, story teller, scrapper and friend to many, passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side. James " aka: Big Jim, Kolo, Scrapper " was born and raised in the southside Chicago Roseland neighborhood before getting married to the love of his life Margaret and moving to Lansing, IL where he set down his roots and raised his family. He is a graduate of Fenger High School, Korean war military veteran, father of three, and was employed by Norfolk and Western railroad from which he retired from after 37 years of service.
James is survived by his wife of 67 years Margaret ( known to all as " His Bride " ), Father to daughter Linda, sons James and Robert ( Rose ), grandchildren Randy ( Amanda ), Dana ( Eric ), Kyle ( Erin ), Carly ( Kevin ) and Megan ( Alex ), three great grandchildren Jacob, Elliot and Rory, and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Our dad enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, carpentry, tinkering out in the garage, and telling his beloved stories from which he has been known to repeat once or twice over the years! After retirement, he decided to buy an old pick up truck and began " scrapping " for various metals to bring to the junkyards to make a few dollars and keep himself busy. He turned his new hobby into a true passion making many long lasting forever friends along the way. Everyone in town knew " Junker Jim " when they saw him driving down the road with his cargo precariously stacked in the bed of his truck with whatever scrap treasures he was able to get his hands on that day.
Our dad was a hard working, easy going friendly man that would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. He was always there when you needed him , always eager to help, always true to his word. He was truly a wonderful father, husband, grandpa and friend and will always be forever in our hearts. Love you dad …..
