James Edward Linstrom, "Jimmy" when his dad was still around and "Jim" after his son was born, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, after a long battle with Huntington's Disease. Jim was a fiercely physical drummer in many local bands starting in the 1980s, a fearless
mountain biker and,  to the end, an incredibly proud father.

Jim grew up in Lansing, IL, later living in Thornton, IL, Hammond, IN, and Munster, IN. He is survived by his beloved son and namesake, Jimmy; his supportive ex-wife, Susan, with whom he shared a warm friendship and committed co-parenting duties; his sister, Tammy (Phil) Arvia;
and nieces Emily and Brenna Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mary Lou Linstrom, and his sister, Patty Johnson.

He was loved by many, especially his best friend, Colin Petersen, and in-laws Sondra Miller and Lisa McCoy. Countless cousins, aunts, uncles and friends will miss him dearly.

Jim first developed his love for drumming at Lansing's Memorial Junior High School and played in the T.F. South marching band before graduating in 1987. He performed in many area bands, notably Uniform of Youth, Blue Persuasion and Phaze; he recorded "Sunday, Sunday, Sunday," a song featured in the movie "Clutch," with Crank; and once opened for Blue Oyster Cult with Allman Brothers tribute band Eat a Peach.
Also an avid mountain biker, Jim competed for a team from Calumet City Schwinn in many races on the National Off-Road Bicycle Association (NORBA) circuit and was a member of the Ridgewood Fattys Mountain Bike Club.

Jim enjoyed seeing live music, as evidenced by his vast trove of concert shirts, and loved pro and college sports, particularly the Bears, White Sox, Bulls, Blackhawks and Notre Dame football.

After graduation from Columbia College Chicago, Jim's professional life blossomed first as a member of Chicago Pipefitters Local 597, an affiliation of which he was tremendously proud. He later flourished as a scheduler for Integrated Projects Resources, overseeing construction and
industrial maintenance projects at bp Whiting and US Steel Gary Works, among others.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd, Lansing, IL 60438. Visitation will take place from 1 to 4 pm, with a service at 4pm. Following the service, a meal in celebration of Jim's life will be held at Lencioni's Pub and Banquets, 3325 Glenwood Dyer Road, Lynwood, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Huntington's Disease Society of America (hdsa.org).
