Jacquelyn Florence Protsman (nee Aumick), 96, of Lansing, IL, died peacefully on September 17, 2024. She was born in Chicago to John and Florence Aumick on November 22, 1927. After graduating from Thornton Fractional Township High School, Jackie worked as the executive secretary to the superintendent of Republic Steel. In the 1950s, her family opened the Lansing Fashionette, which became the love of Jackie's life. Before it closed in 2022, it was one of the oldest stores in Lansing.

Jackie was a dedicated businesswoman and fashionista, wearing high heels and working five days a week well into her 90s. She loved Lansing and was a committed member of the community. Jackie was a lifelong Chamber of Commerce member and was the first woman president in 1976. In 1987, she won the Athena Award for outstanding leadership. She was involved in the Lady Lions, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Lansing Santa House. She also supported the Lansing Historical Society. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school for over 50 years.

Throughout her 96 years, Jackie traveled the world. She visited Japan after World War II, vacationed in pre-revolution Cuba, served as a medical assistant in Kenya, and at 81, climbed the Great Wall of China in her iconic high heels. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Bonita (Ken) Straka, and her beloved Fashionette ladies. She is survived by her son Robert (Erin Okamoto) Protsman; her grandchildren, Bridget (Sean) Cler and Matthew Protsman; her niece Dawn (Don) Harwood; and several other nieces and nephews.

A private graveside interment will be held at a later date.
