Jack T. Serban, 69, of Hammond, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.  He is survived by his children John P. and Richard D. Serban, mother-in-law Sara P. Ramirez, siblings-in-law Sara (Daniel) Ondrick and Daniel (Judy) Ramirez, nephews Allen (Marcos) Babiarz-Lira, Joshua (Julie) Babiarz, Nicholas Babiarz, Daniel J. Ramirez, and one great-niece, Mila Babiarz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul J. and Johnye F. Serban, his loving wife Anita Serban, father-in-law Juan Ramirez, and sister-in-law Irene Ramirez.

Jack was a lifelong Calumet region native.  He was a proud graduate of Purdue University and the biggest college football fan.  Although he was a Boilermaker alum, Jack's heart belonged to the University of Michigan Wolverines.  He was also a giant history buff and loved to read books about the history of the local Calumet region.  Jack met and married his wife Anita in 1988 after meeting and working together at Montgomery Ward. They were married for 30 years and had two children. The family will be holding a celebration of life for Jack at a later time. Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and care of Jack.
