Irene M. Gismondi (nee Chyzy), age 94 of Munster, IN, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Tengstrand; son, Michael (Wendy) Gismondi; four grandchildren: Eric (Jessica) Tengstrand, Amy (Shawn) Hendron, Michael (Danielle) Gismondi, and Lauren (Daniel) Young; and four great grandchildren: Dominic Hendron, Camryn Hendron, Mac Young, and Cecilia Gismondi.

Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dominic Gismondi; parents: Edward and Ann Chyzy, and brother, Richard Chyzy.

Friends are invited to visit with Irene's family on Wednesday, November 26 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 Noon in the funeral home chapel. Irene will be entombed in the mausoleum at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Irene's name to Dementia/Alzheimer's research.

Irene was a member of Jesus Shepherd of Souls (St. Ann) Parish in Lansing. She was an avid reader, but above all, she adored her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family.
