Helen Lakatos (nee Begala), age 100 of Crown Point, IN, formerly of Calumet City, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2024. Helen is survived by her three children: Andrea Lakatos of Valparaiso, IN, Lois (James) Morgan of Cedar Lake IN, and Dawn (late Stephen) Bohman of Canoga Park, CA; grandchildren: Debra (Rich) McGuire, Darrin Feller, Andrew (Melissa) Morgan, William (Lori) Morgan, James (Andrea) Morgan, Stephanie (Ryan) Rickabaugh, and Brittannie Bohman. Also surviving are her great grandchildren: Brandon Lind, Peyton (Jon) Becker, Hope Feller, Ethan James Riley (aka Kyle) Feller, Jacob (Lauren) Feller, Adam Morgan, Nicole (Wes) Faught, Trisha Morgan, and William Morgan; and two great great grandchildren: Parker Feller and Tatum Becker to join the family in July; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 74 years, Andrew W. Lakatos, who passed away in May, 2020, also at age 100; grandson: Brian Feller; parents: Stephen and Mary (nee Koscis) Begala; stepmother: Elizabeth Begala; brother: Stephen (Mary) Begala; sisters Mary (Carl) Gjeldum, Eleanor Townsend, and Elizabeth Pikul.

Friends are invited to visit with Helen's family on Saturday, May 25 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. Helen's funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon with Deacon Tom Knetl officiating. Helen will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL.

Helen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and baking. She was a faithful volunteer for over three decades at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond, and Post Chaplain for the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 330 in Calumet City, IL.
