Grace B. Douma (nee Boer), age 95 of Munster, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, went home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 18, 2024. She is survived by her three children: Peggy Vlietstra, Robert (Sarah) Douma, and Joan Santefort; six grandchildren: Jill (Rob), Kari, Kathryn, Jacob, Beth (Marc) and Matthew (Staci); ten great grandchildren: Ryan, Kaylynn, Jenna, Dylan, Hannah, Hopelin, Bence, Grace, Lawson, and Blane; and numerous nieces and nephews. Grace is also survived by her twin sister: Alice (late Mel) Kampe, another set of twin sisters: Doris (late Rudy) Norman and Lois (late Russell) Reidenga; and brother Hank (Sharon) Boer, and sister-in-law: Jane Boer.
Grace was preceded to Heaven by her beloved husband of 71 years: Adam Douma; parents: Henry and Gertrude Boer; brothers: Pete (late Betty) Boer and James (late Jeanine) Boer.
Friends are invited to visit with Grace's family on Friday, May 24 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 3500 Glenwood-Lansing Rd, Lansing, IL. Her funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon in the church sanctuary with Pastor Daniel Bloesch officiation. She will be laid to rest in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Lansing, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Grace's name to Elim Christian Services, 13020 S. Central Ave, Palos Heights, IL 60418.
Grace volunteered for over 20 years at a Christian Thrift Center in Highland, IN, with the proceeds going to the Back to God Hour Bibles for Missions. Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and will be missed. She was welcomed by her family into everlasting Glory.
"Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge." Psalm 62: 5-8.
