Gertrude (Gert) Moore, age 82, a longtime resident of Chicago's Hegewisch neighborhood, passed away on September 6, 2023.  Gert is survived by her 3 children, Kelly (Chris) Pacini, Sean (Nancy) Moore, and Colleen (Mark) Kalinowski, her former husband and cherished friend Edward Moore, her 7 grandchildren, Amanda (Sam) Kern, Mitchel (Maggie) Kalinowski, Mathew Kalinowski, Mikey Kalinowski, John Pacini, Rachael Moore, Karis Pacini. Great-grandmother to 3, Declynn Kern, Wyatt Kern, and baby Malakai Kalinowski. Also survived by her brother Ray (Helen) Suheski, and sisters Sue Kotfas and Nancy (Joe) Conlin along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was proceeded in death by her loving parents Walter and Marie Suheski and her dear big sister Teresa Jacobs.

Gert worked at the Palmer House Hilton in the Finance Department for 26 years. Family was everything to her and the feelings were mutual. She brought so much laughter and love to everyone. She was the light in the room that people were drawn to and was always easy to talk to. She had a way of making every situation better with her lighthearted humor and funny way of telling stories. She was that fun Mom and Grandma who cherished her time creating memories with the kids. She loved the beach and instilled that love in her family. She enjoyed being outdoors, bike riding, swimming, and washing her car well into her senior years. She had a green thumb and a house full of beautiful plants. Every stray cat in the neighborhood knew where she lived and you could always find a fresh bowl of food and water on her porch. She had a sweet and caring soul that will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM with Deacon Jim Renwick officiating. And Gert will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois.
