Gerald Stephen Zbenk age 75 of Merrillville, Indiana passed away on November 16, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving son Chris Zbenk and his first wife Kathleen Yates Murat and his friend Lili. Gerald is preceded in death by his second wife, Freda (nee Yacup) Zbenk, his parents Stephen and Vicky (nee Igielski) Zbenk and sister Mary B. Zbenk and brother David Zbenk.

Jerry graduated from C.V.S. in 1967 and attended Northern Illinois University for one year. He went on to complete an apprenticeship at US Steel South Works. He worked at US Steel Werner Ladder, and C.T.A. until his retirement 5 years ago. Jerry enjoyed model railroading and was an active member of 20th Century Railroad Club. He always enjoyed his railroad excursions and conventions. He was also an avid bowler and bowled on many men's leagues over the years.

A Celebration of Life for Jerry will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM with a funeral service beginning at 3:30 PM in the funeral home chapel, at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois.
