Genevieve "Jean" R. (Omilean) Makowski-Test, passed away June 13, 2023 in Crown Point, IN. Born June 1st, 1926 to Joseph and Kostanta (Zaleski) Omilean in Athens, WI. In 1947 she wed the love of her life, Julius Makowski, and moved to Calumet City to raise their four beautiful daughters - Judy, Joyce, Linda, and Janet until Julius untimely passing in 1957.She was able to have a long and happy career at T.F. North High School as a janitress. After years of raising her daughters on her own, Genevieve then met Louis Test Jr whom she married. Jean loved her Sunshine Club and Friendship Club. She remained in Calumet City until a few years back when she moved to Crown Point to be near her daughters.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Julius Makowski, Second Husband Louis Test, Jr. Daughters Joyce (John) Bergner, Janet Trembczynski, and Step-son William (Heather) Test. Sisters Elizabeth (Paul) Czysty, Theresa (Joseph) Payne, Helen (Kenny) DeWolf, Marian (Joseph) Kruzan. Genevieve is survived by daughters Judy (john) Palovich, Linda (late Robert) Nomanson; Son-in-Law David Trembczynski, Sisters Sella (Late Jerry) York and Susan (Steve) Bergner, Grandchildren Robert Ford, Christie Nomanson, John (Misty) Bergner, Tina Nomanson, Mike Skipitaris, Jr., Niki (Shawn) Jacobi, Brandon Bergner and Erica Nohr, Great GrandChildren, Justin, Aaron, Xaiver(Kelsie), Symmone, Julian, Nathan, Mason, Brandon Jr, Anthony, Kenzie, and Corbin.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Genevieve will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 DIRECTLY at (Jesus Shepherd of Souls) St. Andrew The Apostle Church, 768 Lincoln Ave, Calumet City, Illinois at 11:00 AM. Genevieve will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until time of service. Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and care of Genevieve.
