Gene Brown of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Lansing, Illinois and Hammond, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 5th, 2024 at the age of 92. Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife Donna Lee Marie Brown (nee Willig), and his son Thomas Brown. He is survived by children, Cynthia Rutherford of Aurora, IL, James (Diane) Brown of Griffith IN, and Timothy (Kari) Brown of The Villages, FL. Grandfather to Jason, Adam, Chelsea, Michael, Teresa, Austin, Aaron, Caroline, Grace and Emily, Taylor, and Hannah and numerous great-grandchildren. Gene was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Gene was a graduate of Hammond High School in Indiana. He was a proud member of IBEW Local 697 in Merrillville, IN for 73 years. Gene was an avid Bowler and Golfer. He was passionate about the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road in Lansing, Illinois. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 13th at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Ryan Reese officiating. Gene will be laid to rest at Oak Glen Lutheran Cemetery in Lansing, Illinois.
