Obituary

Ed (Butch) Dobda, 72 years old of Lansing, IL, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, after a battle with cancer and heart disease. He is survived by his siblings, Janet Viers (nee Dobda, formerly Moffat) of Schererville, IN, Leonard Dobda of Homewood, IL, and one nephew. Butch was preceded in death by his parents: Edward Dobda, Sr. and Lola Dobda (nee Fisk), brother, Richard Dobda, paternal and maternal grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.

Butch graduated from T.F. South High School in Lansing, IL in 1971. After graduating high school, he attended Thornton Community College in South Holland, IL. Butch worked for Franciscan Health in Dyer, IN for 24 years as a Patient Tech and changed jobs to become a games dealer for Majestic Star and Empress Casinos. Butch was retired from Empress Casino.

Butch enjoyed family gatherings with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a fan of rock and roll music and played both drums and piano. Butch also enjoyed photography and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bers and Chicago White Sox.

Friends are invited to visit with Butch's family on Saturday, October 25, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. The funeral service will held in the funeral home chapel beginning at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Butch's name to The American Cancer Society or The American Heart Association.
