Edmund Gawrysiak, age 64 of Lansing, Illinois passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. He is survived by his loving son's; Edmund Gawrysiak III and Robert Gawrysiak. Edmund was a Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Edmund was preceded in death by his beloved wife Victoria, loving parents Edmund and Helen (nee Krush) Gawrysiak, and cherished sisters; Therese E. Markulin and Christine Gawrysiak.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois. Funeral services for Edmund will be held on Friday, January 26, beginning with 9:30 AM closing prayers at the funeral home then proceeding to St. Ann Catholic Church, 3010 Ridge Road, Lansing, for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Cremation to follow.

Edmund worked many years for the Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department in the 10th ward. His compassion in life was fishing, hunting, guns and especially friendships. A couple of Ed's favorite places to fish were Lake Erie and Northern Wisconsin, where family and friends created many beautiful memories over the years. Throughout his life, Ed always cared and protected the people he loved. If you needed anything, morning, noon or night, you could always count on Ed to be there with a helping hand, he never said NO! He was a father figure to many over the years and always gave great advice, because he treated people like family.

He was a teacher to many, always teaching the finer points especially about fishing and hunting. He took time to show anybody who was interested in the sport how to do it the right way. A friend was not a friend to Ed they were family. He was a loving and caring husband, father, uncle and friend. The legacy he left is second to none.
