Doris J. Rito, age 93 of Lansing, Illinois passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Doris was born on December 14, 1928 in Rensselaer, Indiana. She was a resident of Lansing, IL for 69 years. She is survived by her loving son Douglas (Melinda) Rito her cherished granddaughters Tracy Rito, Laura (Tony) Gasior and Emma Lindstrom. Also her great granddaughter Harper Mae Gasior. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael C. Rito, her parents Albert Moore and Goldie Mae (nee Todd) her sister Patricia Moore, her sister Edna (Mickey) Gautier, her brother James Moore, and her brother Harold Moore.

In the early 1940's Doris was part of a speedy and novelty rollerskating act called The Four Pin Up Girls and toured with The Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus. In the early 1950's she was the manager for Graysons Dress Store in Chicago Heights, IL. From 1972 to 2000, she worked in the cafeteria at Thornton Fractional South High School in Lansing, IL. Doris was a very loving, supportive and compassionate person. She loved kids. She never met a stranger that she couldn't talk to. She loved to joke around with people and bring a smile to their day. She enjoyed all of her family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. Anyone who was ever in her kitchen with her has a story about her "Cookie Drawer".

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois. Funeral services for Doris will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Neuman officiating. Doris will be laid to rest at Assumption Catholic Cemetery; Glenwood, Illinois, Doris will be greatly missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
